In the town of Urgup in
Cappadocia, we were treated
to "Turkish Nights." Our
dinner was in an unusual
underground restaurant
recently carved from the lava
rock. There was all kinds of
food and drink, but the real
excitement was over the folk
dancers and musicians.
The young men and women
were very good dancers and
wore many colorful costumes.
They performed folk dances
from different areas of
Turkey. One dance was from
the Black Sea area and was
very similar to Russian folk
dances. There was a belly
dancer, but our guide said it
was a folk dance similar to a
belly dance. (I said it was
really similar, like about the
same.)
Nelson from our group was chosen to participate in a dance that includes eating food.
