The term "Asia Minor" has
been used to describe the geographical area that roughly encompasses
modern-day Turkey. The shape of this area was once thought to be shaped
like a miniature of the whole continent of Asia and became known as Asia
Minor.. The Roman province of Bithynia was located in northwestern Asia
Minor.
The Holy Spirit told the
Apostle Paul not to go to Bithynia. When he and his companions had gone
through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy
Spirit to preach the Word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they
tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. (Acts
16:6-7) Later Paul was allowed to go into Bithynia.
Although the Holy Spirit would not allow Paul at that time to travel into
Bithynia, the United States Air Force sent me there in 1961. |

In the summer of 1993, almost
exactly 30 years later, my wife Nancye and I traveled to Turkey with
Cultural Folk Tours International . For two weeks we enjoyed the many
wonders of this ancient land. It was very exciting for me to share this
country with my wife and to relive the memories of my time there three
decades before.
Istanbul, Ephesus, the
Cappadocia region, and the sunken city sections will take you to another
world - an interesting and intriguing world. The most visited pages
in the Turkey section are those about Silk Processing in the Cappadocia
region.
